Why he matters
Gasly came up through the Red Bull system — won GP2 in 2016, debuted at Toro Rosso in 2017, was promoted to Red Bull in 2019, was demoted back to Toro Rosso mid-season, and then won the wildest race of 2020 at Monza. He moved to Alpine for 2023 alongside fellow French driver Esteban Ocon (a difficult pairing — they had a karting rivalry going back two decades), and is now Alpine’s lead driver in the team’s rebuild on Mercedes power.
How he drives
Gasly is at his best when a car has a stable rear end at high speed. He’s a strong qualifier on power-circuit tracks (Monza, Spa, Baku) and his race-craft in midfield traffic is among the cleanest on the grid.
Watch for
- Power-circuit qualifying laps — Spa, Baku, Monza, Las Vegas.
- His starts — Gasly was the best starter in the midfield through 2024 and 2025.
- His relationship with new teammate Franco Colapinto — Gasly is the senior, Colapinto the breakout signing of 2025.
